Truly I tell
you, just as you did it to one of the least of those who are members of my
family, you did it to me.

ONGOING MISSION PROJECTS -- in
addition to our monthly emphasis, we maintain:
Emergency
Food Pantry
Our proximity to the Interstate
means that we are in the direct path of those who need help. On the first
Sunday of each month pull-top canned goods are collected for our emergency food
pantry. Tuna, crackers, fruit, juice boxes, peanut butter, beenie weenies,
etc. are always needed. These items are given so that those who come to us
hungry may be provided for. Items which are not pull-tops are donated to the
Southeast Dallas Emergency Food Center.
Clothes
Closet
We maintain an ongoing collection
of used clothing. It is sorted and distributed monthly to the Southeast
Dallas Nursing Home, the Genesis Women's Shelter, and the Union Gospel Men's
Shelter.

MISSION MADNESS MONDAYS
During the summer months the
Christian Education Committee and Mission Committee sponsor Monday
events for elementary age children. The children volunteer at
various local mission places. In the past we have visited Grace
Presbyterian Village, the North Texas Food Bank, Austin Street
Shelter, and the Stew Pot.
This summer we will
volunteer at White Rock Center of Hope, the Community Garden, and glean
blueberries in East Texas for Helping Hands. |

MISSION TRIPS -- far
and near
During six summers, intergenerational mission trips have gone to
Colorado, Eastern Kentucky, and Arkansas, and New Mexico, Georgia,
serving in a number of different agencies and projects.
We have also served closer to home. Our June, 2006 Mission Trip took
us to the Gulf Coast for Hurricane Relief. In March, October, and
December, a group of adults from the East Dallas Cluster of
Presbyterian Churches spent weeks in Mississippi and Louisiana with
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance rebuilding two homes destroyed in
Hurricanes. June 2007 there is a
Cluster Hurricane Relief
Trip with Habitat for Humanity.
Our June 2007 Mission Trip is to Sunset Gap, Tennessee to leave
Vacation Bible School and do home renovation.

A
Special
Mission Project
in Guatemala
|
The East Dallas
Cluster of Presbyterian Churches has established a relationship with the
Norte Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Guatemala.
In April,
2000, May, 2001, June 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 mission teams from the cluster have gone to
Guatemala to help struggling local congregations with building
projects, leadership training, and programming aids. There will be
a study trip
July 20-27, 2007.
Besides making trips to
Guatemala, the Cluster is supporting several people from the two
presbyteries as they study to become pastors and a children's nutrition
project. |
