Worship Service for 12/20/2020
Lessons and Carols
GREETINGS!
As God’s children, we rejoice in the reality of who you are. We live within the joy of God’s love for us. Our contentment comes and goes. Our happiness ebbs and flows. Our feelings depend upon our circumstances, our physical health, our brain chemistry. But our joy is deeply rooted in our identity as God’s beloved children.
In the season of Advent, it is our responsibility and joy to prepare ourselves to hear once more the message of the angels, to go to Bethlehem and see the Son of God lying in a manger. We are called to hear and heed in Holy Scripture the story of God’s loving purpose from the time of our rebellion against him until the glorious redemption brought to us by his holy Child Jesus, and look forward to the early remembrance of his birth with hymns and songs of praise.
Welcome this day as speak, hear and sing the Word of our Lord through scripture, prayer and song in this service of Lessons and Carols. May our hearts be touched by the flutter of the angels wings as once again we hear what great love God has for us.
