Worship Service for 4/19/2020
Welcome
God, the encourager, God, the compassionate, God, the merciful, holy, blessed: Disturb us. Rouse us from our sleep. Lift us into consciousness of your presence. Change us, move us, mold us for the better; so that, at the sound of your voice, at the call of our name, we will never be the same. May our worship do this and so much more, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
As we continue in this “new way” of living, I pray the “old way” of giving thanks to God in all things remains strong.
I continue to make my way through the directory, checking up on you all. If you have not heard from me yet, do not give up. I am taking my time and enjoying the conversations-some of them brief, others not. It has been good hearing your voices. But, I continue to stress that care during this time can’t simply be left to a committee or group of people or a pastor. This is a time when it takes ALL of us; this kind of care is larger than any “assignment.” So….check in with each other. Check in with someone you normally wouldn’t contact. We are alone together, and we need each other! And please, if you have concerns or joys for yourself or hear of them from others, or, if you are in need of help, please let me know.
This week, I give thanksgiving for Denise and Cindy as they help lead worship. I give thanksgiving for Fred and Chandra and for all who continue to worship with us from your own holy spaces. You are all missed.
For your gifts to the One Great Hour of Sharing, thank you. Please note that we can still receive this offering. If your give by check simply write: OGHS in the memo section or if you give online, you will find a tab created for the offering.
PRAYERS
Please continue to keep Bobbe in your prayers. This has been a tough time for her and the boys. On Thursday, she was released to rehab following a negative test for COVID19. However, by night’s end, she was taken back to the hospital. Information for the family continues to be frustrating and all they know at this time is that a second test showed Bobbe was still positive. I have talked with her several times, and though weak and frustrated herself, she is doing her best to keep up her spirits. Feel free to text her, but don’t be alarmed if she does not respond.
We also keep Bettye Clark in our prayers. Back pain has been more intense and it is making mobility difficult and social distancing is taking its toll. She does still enjoy visiting by phone.
Links to the liturgy and sermon are below the video. I am looking forward to worshiping with you Sunday!
