Worship Service for 4/26/2020
Welcome
Dear family and friends,
For the way you are being Christ to one another, gratitude from the depth of my being! In talking with our older members, homebound members, or members of their families, my heart is warmed to hear that many of you are also checking in with them. At this point no one is seeking assistance with food, finances, medicine or medical attention. I am aware, however, that there are times when a need is mistakenly overlooked or too sensitive for someone to share. So, I continue to ask your assistance. If you need help-physical, spiritual or emotional- please do not hesitate to call me directly; these are hard times. If you, as church members or friends, know of a need for someone, please also make that known.
For those we have had on our prayer lists, and new prayers, we continue to provide the latest information we have:
*As Lewis continues his treatment, he is experiencing nausea and a great sense of tiredness, but his spirits are high and his faith steady. As Vicki walks alongside Lewis, we also ask God's strength for her.
*Bettye Clark remains in rehab for back issues but is hoping that a return to her apartment will be soon.
*Alice Brooks is feeling well but is in the process of making decisions about a move closer to her daughters; in her decision-making, we ask the Spirit's comfort.
*Tammy Crouse's brother-in-law, Jerry passed away last week after battling cancer; we keep his wife, Cherry-Tammy's sister- and their children in our prayers.
*Thanks be to God! Bobbe Brown came home Thursday! She will remain in quarantine for 18 days. She sends her love and thanksgiving for all our prayers. God is good!
Following are some bits of news that I hope will bring you comfort and put a smile on your face:
*While we would rather be together in our sanctuary worshiping, it is good to note that our services are being viewed by many, and many we pray beyond our own congregation. Here is a breakdown of the number of "hits" on YouTube beginning on March 23 through this past week, keeping in mind that the numbers could be higher: March 23, 73; March 29, 130; April 5 (Palm Sunday, 120); April 9 (Maundy Thursday, 101); April 10 (Good Friday, 54); April 12 (Easter, 130); and April 19, 74
*While a "gathering again" date is still an unknown for many businesses, non-profits and churches, during our session meeting on Monday (via Zoom), a Task Force was created to begin researching the process of re-entering our building when the time comes. Know that your health is our greatest concern, and as the time comes closer to returning, you will be receiving specific information about the process.
A heart-full of thanksgiving for Fred, Chandra, Elizabeth, Vivienne and all who helped make this service possible! As you prepare your hearts for worship, I share lyrics that came to my mind and heart as I prepared the service. These words continue to be a source of comfort and challenge to me as I am called to be Christ-like:
Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you? Pray that I might have the grace to let you be my servant, too. We are pilgrims on a journey, we are travelers on the road. We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. I will hold the Christ-light for you in the nighttime of your fear. I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear. I will weep when you are weeping, when you laugh, I'll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow till we've seen this journey through. When we sing to god in heaven, we shall find such harmony, born of all we've known together of Christ's love and agony. Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you? Pray that I might have the grace to let you be my servant, too.
The peace of Christ IS with us!
