Worship Service for 5/10/2020
I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
Psalm 122: 1
Welcome to all who are worshiping with us at Eastminster Presbyterian this morning, the LORD’S DAY, as well as Mother’s Day, and senior Sunday recognition. In our dining room at home hangs a sign that reads, “Having someplace to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing!” At Eastminster, I truly believe you will find God’s home, God’s love, God’s family, and God’s blessing.
We are a small community of faith committed to being Christ-like to one another, to our neighbors and to all persons God sends to cross our paths. We believe the power of the Holy Spirit helps transform our “guests” in worship to “friends in Christ.” All are welcome and if you are searching for a place to call home with a community of faith, the hearts of the people of Eastminster say: Let the Spirit lead you home! Here you find Christ’s love! Here you find God’s family! Here you find the blessing of our Triune God: Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer!
Every now and then, I am convinced it is okay to be sinfully proud, so…here I go! It never ceases to amaze me how faithful, talented, creative, compassionate, and fun the children, youth, and young adults of Eastminster are! And, that is also a cue for a shout out to the parents, grands, greats, and the congregation as a whole. You were charged with the spiritual growth of these children of God, and I believe the video service for May 10 will reveal you have “trained them” in wonderful and faith-filled ways!
I want to personally say thank you to Fred and Chandra who have walked every step of the videoing process since we began online services. Fred, thank you for your “above and beyond” commitment to making our services as cohesive and worshipful as possible while we are apart.
And…to all who made this video a special blessing for us, with a great thank you to God, our gratitude! For the musical gifts of Jake, Sean, Kayla, and Ronnie…what joy you bring to our hearts! To our littlest disciples, AbbyGayle, Hannah, Vivienne, and Molly, you give us reason to smile and have hope for the future and the future of Christ’s church! For our youth…Ryan and Mason so many things have changed in your lives these past few weeks, but your faith has not, and for that, thank you! Young adults…Laura, Jacob, Daniel, Lilly, Karli, Sean, Jake, Kayla and Ronnie, you are the church and I couldn’t be more proud to be called your pastor; thank you for reminding us of the power of the Spirit within us!
For all who worship with us, may you feel the joy of the Spirit, and all other fruits gifted us!
God’s grace, my gratitude,
Pastor Sherry
