Worship Service for 7/12/2020
The Lord is present with us in our being as well as in our doing. The Lord comes quietly at times, boldly at other times to meet us where we are in the midst of our ordinary lives. The Lord invites us to be open to his presence in and among us wherever our scattered lives take us. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord stands ready to nurture in us seeds to grow in to faith and trust. In the name of the our Lord, may what we experience this day in worship cause the seeds of faith to blow to the north, the south, the east and the west, scattering God’s love for all who will hear.
Greetings from our Lord and from the congregation of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Today we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. All persons are welcome at the Lord’s Table, all the time. During the service, if you are watching via social media, there will be a time to eat and drink. You are also invited to physically come to the church at 6550 Samuell Boulevard between 1 and 2 p.m. to receive God’s blessing and pre-packaged communion elements. We will provide these as safely as possible with our elders wearing masks and gloves.
For all who continue to enrich worship by sharing their gifts, thank you: Lilly Pappas, Molly Holloman, Gary Holloman, Sean Turner, Melody Davis, the Sanctuary Choir, Fred Watkins, and Chandra Anderson.
Prayer is powerful. And so today, some prayer requests for us.
*Prayers for relief from back pain as Tom Pappas awaits results from an MRI.
*Nelda Gentile, Victoria Moore’s mother, after the elimination of COVID19, issues with lungs, heart, and thyroid, continues to have shortness of breath. Prayers for answers, healing and strength for both Nelda and Victoria.
*Bettye Clark has returned to the physical care unit in an effort to help relieve her continuing back pain. We pray for strength and healing for her.
*Sylvia Falcon remains in the hospital following her stroke. We pray for recovery for her and strength for Tom in this time that they are separated.
*We keep Susie Fielding in prayer. She is home and hoping that a change in thyroid medication will help resolve her shortness of breath.
*We keep Lewis in prayer, especially for the strength to continue moving forward with cancer treatments, and we pray healing.
May the God of hope and healing be with all we have mentioned; with all on our hearts; and with those whose names we do not know, only that they are suffering.
PSALM OF PRAISE (Psalm 119)
We come to worship God whose word enlightens our lives and guides our steps in right paths. Even in the midst of trying times our faith is in God’s word, creating in us praise and thanksgiving. We rely on God’s ways shaping our lives forever, strengthening us not to stray from God’s goodness all the days of our lives.
With the love of the Lord,
Pastor Sherry
