Worship Service for 7/26/2020
GREETING
What mysteries there are in God’s world and we, so sophisticated, stand in awe at the wonders of the natural world. We look at the tiniest of seeds and wonder what will happen, and our Lord promises that from that small seed will grow a large shrub. Although we consider our gifts to be small and insignificant, God will use our gifts in miraculous ways. Family, friends, guests it is good for us to be worshiping this beautiful Sunday!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
August 2 from 10-11 a.m. Eastminster will be hosting our 2nd Drive-Thru Communion at 6550 Samuell Boulevard. We are invited by our Lord to eat and drink at his Table, not the table of the church or denomination; all persons are welcomed to share bread and cup which will be blessed in Sunday’s worship. Pre-packaged communion elements will be served by masked and gloved elders of the church and the pastor will send people on their way with a blessing.
Our adult Sunday School classes continue to meet; however meeting times might be altered on this one Sunday to accommodate communion. If you are interested in learning more about the offerings, please contact the church office at 214-381-4693
Words of gratitude for our liturgist last week, Laura Bennett. It is wonderful having our young adults help lead worship from the many places across the state. Thank you, Larua. This week we offer thanksgiving to Grandmother/Grandson team, Christine Blair and Jacob Wood. Our church staff continues to make available not only our Sunday worship, but also the ways we are beginning to walk through and beyond this time of quarantine. Thank you Fred and Chandra for helping us worship safely.
PRAYERS
*Brittany, an Eastminster friend, and nurse at Baylor, asks for prayers for strength to face the daily realities of hospitalization and caring for others during this pandemic.
*Terri Wells, friend of Denise Bennett, who fell and broke her shoulder and is awaiting surgery.
*The McNeil family, wife Debbie and children, Jace and Heather in the death of husband and father, Gary. The McNeil’s are friends of the Pappas family.
*Diane Osborne, friend of Janice Bell, diagnosed with breast and liver cancer.
*Bruce Turner’s sister, Cissi, has tested positive yet again for COVID19.
*Curtis Rushing, 93, Melissa Whitley’s uncle, has been hospitalized with COVID19, Pneumonia and Chronic Kidney Disease. Also, please keep Jacob and Tom in prayer as Jacob’s Power Lifting coach tested positive for the virus and the Whitley boys have been exposed.
As we worship today, we praise the God of small seeds and mighty power as we listen to these words from the Psalmist.
PSALM OF PRAISE (Psalm 105)
O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples. Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.
