Worship Service for 11/29/2020
GREETINGS!
Whenever you see something on the horizon like you have never seen before, remember this new thing, just as we remember in this season of Advent, God did, is doing and will continue doing new things in our lives and world. This Sunday, while we wait for the Christ-child, may we remember that, in our waiting, God is already and always with us.
*Welcome to worship at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Dallas. I invite you to visit our website at www.eastminsterdallas.org for more details about our Advent season and Christmas Eve service. As you know, churches, like so many other places and people, keep our plans flexible as we are always putting the health and safety of people first during this unpredictable time of COVID19. I ask that you continue praying for all who are making and revising and cancelling plans; the heartbreak is real. But what this virus cannot do is keep us, at home and with heart, worshiping and giving thanksgiving to God for the gift of salvation in the Christ-child who grew to be our Savior. And for that, we offer our prayer.
Prayers
*Please lift up extra prayers for Lewis and Vicki. Lewis has developed pneumonia. Vicki is trying to arrange home hospice for him. May the peace of Christ blanket them.
*We keep Minerva and Juan Hernandez in prayer as Juan’s parents, Clemente and Maria Hernandez, have tested positive for COVID19; and also prayer for a cousin, Eve, who is recovering from the virus.
*We give thanksgiving for the ordination of Alex Pappas Ward last Saturday. With COVID 19, this has been a journey interrupted, but still a journey with a beautiful ending.
*For Karli and Chase who will be married this afternoon (Sunday), we pray and ask peace and blessings upon them for the hard decision to forego the original wedding and have a smaller family gathering.
*As I write these prayers, our Katie and Jordan have moved from the Birthing Center, after some hard labor, to Texas Health Harris in Fort Worth and we are waiting with joy for the arrival of Elaina (Lainey) Marie Holloman.
*We continue to lift all the joys and the concerns of our congregation to the listening heart of the Lord.
*We keep our country in prayer as we work toward healing, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
This blessings of the Lord, as we wait together!
