Worship Service for 3/21/2021
GREETING !
If you find yourself worshiping with us today, God has brought you here and has invited all of us to bring our full selves. We come with our simplicity, our complexity; our joy, our sadness; our vigilance, our apathy; our hopes, our fears. And in the midst of our own stories, we gather here to be found in God’s story: a God who welcomes all people, a God who loves all people without conditions, and beyond measure. May we return thanksgiving for all the ways God invites us to worship, just as we are.
PRAYERS
*Our healing prayers are lifted for Cleo Cook, cousin to Vicki Cook and Denise Bennett as she battles pancreatic cancer, and prayers for strength as her daughter, Holly and granddaughter, Joni care for her.
*We hold the family and friends of Bud Buschardt, in prayer as they mourn Bud’s death. Bud is a long-time friend of Fred Watkins.
*We pray the presence of the healing and comforting Spirit for so many whose lives have been affected this past year by physically illness, loss of home or job, mental fatigue, with the world’s temptations, and a sense of lost direction. May they find the promised hope of our Lord.
*We keep in pray particularly our congregation as we return to worshipping together in our sanctuary. May the Lord bless and keep us healthy.
*For the restoration of our facility to its full potential for the ministries God has planned for us, we pray.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
*We are blessed to be able to announce that we will once again worship in our sanctuary beginning at Good Friday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. and then begin our Sunday morning services with joy on the day of our Lord’s resurrection, Easter Sunday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines for gathering, providing a space as safe and healthy as possible. You can go to our website at www.eastminsterdallas.org to learn more about the protocols for entering the sanctuary.
*The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received on Easter Sunday, April 4th. Offerings received will be split between the Denomination and Pleasant Grove Food Pantry. For the denominational portion of the OGHS, three programs are supported by this offering: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People.
*As the restoration of the educational wing, damaged by water during the ice storm, continues, Sunday School classes, Eastminster Presbyterian Women, study groups and meetings will continue to be offered via Zoom.
OPENING PRAYER
O God, whose Word is not just a one-way conversation, talk with us today and hear us as we pray. Free us, that we might listen for your voice, and empower us to speak to you. In Christ, you have called us into a friendship which influences all other relationships. Help us to see beauty where we might be tempted to see ugliness — in ourselves as well as in others. Re-create in us a new heart, O God, one that beats in tune with your own. This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
