Worship Service for 7/26/2020
GREETING
Welcome this Sunday morning to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Dallas. As always, we invite you to visit our website at www.eastminsterdallas.org and our Facebook page. If you are watching via social media and have a prayer joy or concern you would like to share, please feel free to call and leave a message at 214-381-4693 and we will pray with and for you.
We are entering sacred time wherever we are gathered because of the promised presence of our Lord with us. I invite you to turn down the volume on your fears and lift up the joys and concerns of your hearts. Breathe. Let go of the expectations placed on you by others—and those you were taught to place on yourself.
Drop the guilt and the shame, not to shirk accountability, but in honest expectation of the possibility of forgiveness. Be here, in this moment. Breathe in the words of the Psalmist who speaks of God’s all-surrounding, ever-present Spirit with us. Hear these words from Psalm 139.
PRAYERS
Prayers for healing and peace for Mark Anderson and Chandra as Mark has tested positive for COVID-19.
Prayers for comfort for the family of Liza Scott, friend of Vicki Cook. Liza has passed away.
Judy Karlen Serpas, sister to Harry, Frank and Christine, now has two, yes two, broken hands. Prayers for healing, learning how to navigate her days, and patience for her and Cal.
Prayers for relief from pain and complete healing for 17 month old, Jamie, grandson of Marcie. Marcie is a friend of Vicki Thiebaud’s, and former librarian at Bayles Elementary. Jamie ingested citronella from a tiki torch which burned his lungs.
Remember in your prayers Naomi Davis, Chandra Anderson’s mom, as she continues to weaken in strength and is experiencing an irregular heartbeat. For Chandra, we pray peace and strength as she tends to Naomi.
Prayers for Jake Davis as he is suffering from severe asthma attacks.
Sylvia Falcon remains in the hospital, but her vital signs continue to be good, and they expect to remove the feeding tube this week.
PSALM OF PRAISE (Psalm 139)
O God, you know us inside and out, through and through. You search us out and lay your hand upon us. You know what we are going to say even before we speak. We praise you, O God, for the wonderful knowledge, that whoever we are and wherever we go, you are with us.
