Worship Service for 8/02/2020

GREETINGS!
May the peace of Christ be with us all!  Welcome to worship at Eastminster Presbyterian, Dallas. As we monitor the situation with COVID19, we continue to worship virtually and pray you feel the presence of the Spirit wherever your “sanctuary” may be today.
It has been a great joy to have a variety of members and friends help lead worship since March. We are a congregation that believes worship is a participatory act of thanksgiving, and for those helping lead, I am thankful.  Today, a word of gratitude to Daniel Pappas who serves as our liturgist today. For the ever-faithful work of Fred Watkins and Chandra Anderson, thank you.  I issue the invitation once again: if you would like to help lead worship, please let me know.  Unsure about technology? We can help. Never been a liturgist before? We will walk through it with you.  Don’t want to see yourself on the camera?  We can use your voice!

You are invited to join us for a Drive Thru Communion and Blessing Service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. today in our parking lot at 6550 Samuell Boulevard. Communion elements have been factory sealed and elders will use all of the protective protocols in place for serving.
We invite you to visit our website at www.eastminsterdallas.org for information about worship, fellowship, outreach and study opportunities. Here are just a few:
  • Outreach ministry and partnership with Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Service for Back to School Supplies.
  • 3 adult Sunday School classes (Zoom: The book of Job and Reformed curriculum exploring “wisdom” in scripture.  In-person and socially distanced:  Reformed curriculum and discussion about heaven and hell)
  • Children’s Sunday School (grades 4-6) on August 9 and August 16 via Zoom
  • Daily prayers, devotionals and humor
  • Telephone recorded prayers and short devotionals beginning in August
  • Volunteer opportunities at the Pleasant Grove Food Bank, Christian Stronghold Food Give-Away and White Rock Center of Hope
  • Opportunities looking forward: partnering with the Wilkinson Center for the Back to School Shoe Drive and Christmas Toy Distribution; hosting the Eastminster Christmas Village for Presbyterian Children’s Home and Services
In our prayers, we continue to remember all peoples who are facing the multiple layers of struggle that surround this pandemic. We lift up all who are suffering from other illnesses not associated with COVID19, illnesses of mind, body and spirit. We place our teachers, children, parents and all charged with decisions about education in God’s hands. We ask God’s protection for all who give their lives protecting us. We pray God’s wisdom in a world where leaders seek guidance to unity and peace. For our church at Eastminster, and all bodies of Christ, we seek guidance and wisdom as we seek to be Christ’s hands and heart in a world that is unfamiliar to us.

** Pease note that the Response to Forgiveness has been changed from Glory Be to the Father to Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me.
